Join us for a four-course dinner prepared by our very own Jonathan Ramos on Saturday, August 20th. We will proudly feature regional dishes from Jonathan’s home town of San Francisco de Macorís, the capital of the Duarte province in the Dominican Republic. Each course is paired with Spanish wine expertly selected by Laurence Vuelta of Aveniu brands. Laurence will be on hand to walk you through each wine and answer any questions you may have.
We want to introduce you to Jonathan Ramos, an integral member of our culinary team. He brings a bright enthusiasm and steady skill to our kitchen and we are deeply grateful to him for sharing both.
An avid cyclist, Jonathan is currently participating in The Great Cycle Challenge to help fight kid’s cancer. He has ridden over 500 miles so far and is grateful to each of you who have donated!
Jonathan’s menu for the evening includes a traditional Dominican dish called La Bandera (“The Flag”) and is prepared with Summerfield Farms braised beef. Each and every dish has special meaning to Jonathan. In his own words:
Hello my name is Jonathan Ramos, I’m from the Dominican Republic. This dinner is special to me because I’m dedicating it to my mother’s cooking that I grew up eating and enjoying. As much as I want to represent my country, I also want to make my mother proud. This dinner is for her and for the Dominican Republic.
If you have never enjoyed Dominican food, this dinner is an opportunity for you to taste a rich culinary heritage that is defined by a combination of Spanish, indigenous Taíno, Middle Eastern, and African influences.
Jonathan will be on hand, after dinner, to answer any questions you may have about each course.
